He served as the associate department chair of Electronic Engineering in 2006-2012, and has been director of Center for Opto-electronic Materials and Devices since 2011. His research areas cover micro and nano photonic devices for information transmission, signal processing, and displays. He has over 200 publications in international journals and conferences (H-index = 20), including more than 30 invited papers, and 8 postdeadline papers. He holds 6 US patents and ~40 Chinese patents.
